Team webhook delivery — README

Your integration can receive events at its own HTTPS endpoint. This is an outbound server-to-server callback, distinct from the live document WebSocket and the HTTP usage polling endpoint.
The current working tree moves new webhook setup to organisations. A team owner/admin uses the Developer tab to register a receiver when the plan includes the developer feature. The public OpenAPI snapshot still describes personal webhook-management routes; the newer organisation-only setup and additional event types were not verified as deployed. Confirm the released product before building onboarding around this change. Do not advertise private /api/org handlers as a supported public creation API.

Events in the current implementation#

EventMeaning
document.createdA team document was created.
document.updatedText, title or original file changed.
document.deletedA document was deleted.
document.sharedSharing was added or a role changed.
permission.removedDocument access was removed.
member.addedA member joined or was added.
member.removedA member left or was removed.
member.changedRole or relevant account/member details changed.
access.changedA policy, plan, credential, SSO/domain or other access condition changed.
admin.actionAn administrative team action occurred.
Do not infer a complete audit log from this stream. Some frequent or lifecycle audit actions do not emit callbacks, and events can be delayed or repeated. Use the current API state to reconcile your application. Keep personal information from member events out of broad telemetry and logs.

Receiver contract#

Follow the shared webhook delivery README for the envelope and exact raw-body signature verification. Requests carry Handwrite-Event-Id, Handwrite-Event-Type and Handwrite-Signature. Store the signing secret when it is shown once; listing receiver settings does not reveal it again.
Verify the signature before parsing or processing, then persistently deduplicate by event ID. Acknowledge with a 2xx response within ten seconds and move slow work to a queue. There are up to eight delivery attempts total with backoff, not eight retries after the first. A deleted receiver no longer receives queued retries. Delivery is not an exactly-once or globally ordered transaction log.
An org-owned API token has no webhook-management scope. Team webhook management in current source is admin-only, even when a developer role can create a user-level org token. Keep receiver registration separate from membership consent and document selection.
